I live in northern New Mexico, and during the winter months it is very cold outside in the early mornings and evenings. So, I have not begun a serious running schedule as of yet. I run on Saturday mornings for about 90 minutes, and I hit about as many hills as I can. But running is not my focus during the upcoming winter months. Rather, I am focusing on weight training. For some reason, in the running world, weight training is an aspect of training that is largely ignored. While lifting weights can never replace running, especially long runs, weight training does allow you to significantly strengthen your legs and core. So, over the coming months until early March, my focus will be on building a strong base in the weight room, with my only running taking place on Saturday mornings.
